NFPA 1582 Firefighter Physicals Available at Springfield Urgent Care Locations in Michigan

Rescue Team of Firefighters wearing heavy gear and wielding hoses from the back of a truck arrive on Traffic Accident Scene. Firefighters are among the real-life superheroes in our community. We depend on them to save the day whenever fire threatens lives and property. Indeed, firefighters routinely put their own safety at risk, but they shouldn’t put their health at risk because of an undetected medical condition. That’s why Springfield Urgent Care is pleased to offer firefighter physical exams that conform to National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1582 standards.

We offer firefighter physicals at all of our urgent care locations in Michigan, and they’re available to walk-in patients during extended hours seven days a week. Our wait times are short, and we also offer an online check-in service that allows our patients to save their place in line before they arrive. For firefighters, this means Springfield Urgent Care offers a convenient opportunity for them to meet NFPA 1582 firefighter physical standards, even if they have a jam-packed work, school, and family schedule.

The Importance of Getting a Firefighter Physical

Putting out fires is a physically demanding job, and firefighters must be able to safely handle heavy equipment and work in extreme heat while wearing protective gear that adds many pounds to their body weight. Firefighters may also respond to rescue calls, which often involve working in harsh environments and bad weather.

According to the NFPA and other sources, about half of all on-duty firefighter deaths are caused by cardiac events that occur when firefighters with underlying health conditions are exposed to the highly stressful demands of their job. The goal of NFPA 1582 is to evaluate through diagnostic testing and a physical exam whether individuals are physically fit to meet the requirements of the job. Moreover, the NFPA 1582 standards conform to the relevant standards of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and are appropriate for all firefighter classifications, from full-time career firefighters to on-call volunteers.

“By far the best Urgent Care I’ve ever been too. First, the employees are amazing and full of positivity. They know what they are doing and get stuff done. You actually feel safe there. I’ve never felt safe in an urgent care before from bad experiences until I walked into this one. I’m beyond grateful. I have to mention how beautiful and CLEAN the building is. If you need an urgent care go to this one you will not be disappointed.”

“I don’t usually like going to any urgent care because of my bad experience BUT I love this Location. The staffs and the doctor are very nice and very friendly. One of the female nurses name Carrie. She is my favorite because she was nice and gentle when she was care for me. She also did my first Covid on my first visit there months ago. Thank You!!”

“I rarely ever leave ratings of places, and don't think I've ever commented on one, if I have I don't remember doing so but this place is AMAZING!! I was in and out so fast. ALL of the staff was so nice and so efficient. The rooms are clean and the waiting room is so nice and clean and cute. They even have a coffee machine with options if hot chocolate, hot tea, coffee and even chicken broth which I thought was just so thoughtful!! I won't go anywhere else if I need an urgent care center!!”
