There’s no pre-authorization or appointment needed.
At Springfield Urgent Care, we accept many insurance plans and also offer affordable rates to our patients paying out of pocket. Rapid antigen testing for COVID-19 is covered by most major health insurance plans, as are our polymerase chain reaction (PCR) coronavirus tests with next-day results.
How to Receive COVID-19 Rapid Testing at Our Urgent Care Clinic
Springfield Urgent Care continues to offer a wide variety of medical services to walk-in patients who are not experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, which is a highly contagious respiratory condition. Therefore, as a safety precaution, we’re asking all patients who have a fever or cough to remain in their cars and call (248) 942-5888 when they arrive at our clinic. One of our friendly and knowledgeable staff members will complete your registration and provide instructions. If you’re not experiencing symptoms, you can simply report to our clinic for testing. We ask that all patients wear masks when entering our clinic.
Types of Coronavirus Rapid Tests We Offer
We offer two types of rapid COVID-19 tests, both of which involve using a nasal swab to collect a mucus sample from the nose. Here’s a brief description of each:
Rapid Antigen Test
This test detects proteins associated with SARS-CoV-2, the coronavirus that causes COVID-19. It’s similar to rapid tests that are commonly used to diagnose the flu and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). The test results will allow infected persons to seek appropriate treatment while self-isolating to protect others from infection.
Rapid Abbott ID NOW Molecular Test
Also designed to identify an active COVID-19 infection, this test works by detecting the RNA associated with SARS-CoV-2.
In addition to the coronavirus tests that detect active infections, we offer COVID-19 antibody (serology) testing, which can determine whether you had COVID-19 and recovered.
Contact Springfield Urgent Care today if you have questions about COVID-19 rapid testing or any of the other services we offer at our Highland clinic.
