COVID-19 Rapid Testing Available at Our Urgent Care Clinic in Clarkston, MI
COVID-19 is an exceptionally contagious virus that has brought about the need for speedy testing services to help infected persons recover faster and take action to prevent others from contracting the virus. Therefore, the Food and Drug Administration has granted emergency authorization for use of rapid antigen testing to detect COVID-19, and Springfield Urgent Care is pleased to add this test to the coronavirus testing services available at our clinic in Clarkston, Michigan.
How to Get Tested for Coronavirus at Springfield Urgent Care
Getting tested for COVID-19 at our Clarkston clinic is easy. There’s no pre-authorization or appointment required, and we provide testing from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, including weekends. If you’re not experiencing any symptoms, you can simply walk into our clinic and request testing. (We ask that symptomatic patients wear masks when entering our clinic).
How Are the COVID-19 Rapid Tests Different From Other Coronavirus Tests?
We offer two types of rapid testing to detect an active COVID-19 infection. The chief benefit is how fast the test results become available—usually within minutes. Before rapid COVID-19 testing was approved, patients typically waited days or even longer for test results to find out whether they had the virus. Speedy test results help patients make important decisions, such as whether to self-isolate to protect others. Medical practitioners can also use the test results to provide accurate diagnoses and the most appropriate treatment plan for each patient’s condition.
Rapid Antigen Test
The rapid antigen test for coronavirus is similar to the rapid test you may have received to identify a flu infection, except it’s designed to detect the presence of coronavirus proteins in patients with active infections.
Rapid Abbott ID NOW Test
This test can be used to identify an active COVID-19 infection by detecting RNA material associated with the virus.
At Springfield Urgent Care, we continue to offer traditional PCR tests with next-day results, as well as rapid coronavirus testing. All of these tests involve nasal swab sampling. It’s important to remember that COVID-19 rapid testing and the traditional PCR test are designed to identify an active infection. If you think you contracted the virus and recovered, the antibody serology test may be a better option, and we also offer that test at Springfield Urgent Care.
To make coronavirus testing accessible to as many patients as possible, we accept many health insurance plans and offer affordable rates to those paying out of pocket. When you arrive for testing, our friendly staff will be happy to check with your insurance provider to determine which tests are covered under your plan.
