Coronavirus Testing Frequently Asked Questions
What types of Covid-19 testing do you offer?
Springfield Urgent Care offers several FDA-approved COVID-19 testing options. We currently provide three different methodologies of viral testing via nasopharyngeal samples: rapid antigen, rapid PCR and send-out PCR. Rapid testing results are available within 15-30 minutes, and the send-out PCR test results are available within 24-48 hours. We also offer a non-diagnostic blood antibody test that can detect a recent infection after at least thirty (30) days post-symptoms.
CDC guidelines recommend that any negative antigen rapid test be followed up with a second rapid antigen test after 48 hours to rule out infection if you are experiencing symptoms. For current CDC Covid-19 testing guidelines, click here.
i would like to be tested; what is the procedure?
We offer a variety of options for obtaining Covid-19 testing. You can come in as a walk-in basis, call ahead and schedule a reservation or book a reservation online through our website. If you are symptomatic at the time of your visit, we do ask that you call the clinic upon your arrival, and we can check you in over the phone. Please note we are not just a sample collection facility; all testing is required to be part of an urgent care visit.
How effective is the test?
Depending on the methodology, the accuracy of the test varies. Send-out PCR tests are the “gold standard” for COVID-19 testing. Rapid testing methodologies are reliable in a positive result but accuracy decreases with a negative result. Please refer to CDC guidelines for more information.
