At Springfield Urgent Care, we want to make it as convenient as possible for our patients to receive coronavirus testing while also looking out for the safety of all of our patients and staff. Our walk-in clinic is open to those with or without symptoms for testing from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. weekdays, 7 a.m. until 9 p.m. weekends, with no appointment needed. If you do have symptoms, including a cough or a fever of 100.4 degrees or higher, you don’t need an appointment for testing, but please call (248) 942-5888 from the parking lot when you arrive to complete the registration process. Once you are registered, we will call you with a room number to go to for evaluation and testing.
What Is COVID-19?
The coronavirus disease 2019, more commonly known as COVID-19, is a highly contagious virus that can cause a wide variety of respiratory symptoms, some of which may resemble symptoms of the flu. Symptoms may be mild or severe, and some people may contract the disease but never experience symptoms. Although the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has warned that people 65 and older and those with underlying health problems are at the highest risk of becoming seriously ill, younger people with no known medical issues have succumbed to the disease.
Coronavirus Testing at Springfield Urgent Care
As the coronavirus pandemic moves into its second year, a variety of tests have been developed to detect the virus. Springfield Urgent Care is proud to make fast and accurate testing available to our community. The tests we offer to detect active infections all involve nasal swab sampling, but each one works a little differently. Here’s a brief description:
- Rapid antigen test – Designed to detect the presence of a protein that’s associated with the virus, this test is analyzed on site at our clinic with same-day results.
- Abbott ID NOW rapid molecular test – This test looks for the RNA associated with the coronavirus that causes COVID-19. It’s analyzed at our clinic and delivers results within minutes.
- Traditional PCR test – This test looks for genetic material associated with the virus that causes COVID-19 and requires specialized lab analysis. Results will be available the next day.
We accept many insurance plans and offer affordable rates to our patients who are paying out of pocket. If you’re concerned about whether a particular test is covered by your insurance provider, our friendly staff can assist you.
